Bio

God’s word tells us to teach all people about Him – to proclaim His word. Cody Boyer has not taken God’s commandment lightly. At the young age of ten, Cody decided that he wanted to share and proclaim God’s word through music. His decision to go into the music ministry actually did happen overnight. One evening, in the spring of 1996, the Boyer family pastor invited them to watch a video of the legendary Cathedral Quartet. God used that video to change the course of Cody’s life. At the time Cody was very shy and had never thought about singing. But, just a few months later, Jim (Cody’s father), Bob (Cody’s Uncle) and Cody began singing at retirement homes and music halls around the state of Oklahoma.

Cody was very fortunate to have a father that had sung professionally all around the country. Although his father had retired from road life, he was still singing at fairs and music halls all around Oklahoma.  God used this as a key to let Cody be heard by many people. As time progressed and Cody’s voice matured, the Boyers began singing more and more. In March of 2005, the Boyers recorded their first project, Glory Bound. Cody sang the lead on all 10 songs while Jim and Bob sang their respective harmony vocals. God used the project to get the Boyers into more churches and music halls around the state. God also used the project to get Cody interested in recording.

In June of 2006, Cody released his first solo project. Enjoying the Journey featured four classics and six of Cody’s original songs. Recorded entirely at Cody’s home studio, the project became a quick hit among his fans. Cody recorded, mixed, produced and arranged the project. He also did all of the background vocals and orchestrations. During the time he was recording the project God opened yet another door for Cody. Trinity Baptist Church of El Reno, Oklahoma called Cody one night in search of a Music Minister. During the next two months Cody met with Trinity’s search committee and also led at the church. Finally on April 16th, Easter Sunday, Cody led for the first time as the churches full time music minister.

In August 2006, after being at Trinity for only 4 months, Cody met and auditioned with the legendary gospel group, the Weatherfords. Shortly after their first meeting he was offered and accepted the job. Cody has learned a great deal about life on the road since that time. The Weatherfords annually do about 200 concerts a year from California to Florida, and everywhere in between. People everywhere love Cody’s voice and spirit. In the June 2007 issue, Singing News columnist and gospel music critic Roy Pauley quoted that “Cody sings and handles himself on stage like a seasoned veteran”.

Cody feels that God has called him to do great things in the music ministry. And he believes that if he follows God’s will, then those great things will come to pass. God has opened many doors for Cody, and for that he is very grateful. You can see that thankfulness in what Cody wrote on the liner notes of his newest CD. “I’ll never understand why God does the things He does in my life. But until I can ask Him face to face one day, I’m just going to smile and say…

                                                      I’m Enjoying the Journey,

And what a journey it is!”
